OPM Director Kay Coles James is deeply committed to expanding telework opportunities for Federal employees across the Government. To demonstrate her personal support and to highlight the benefits of telework, Director James will be visiting the Bowie Telecenter on the morning of January 25, 2002 from 10:00am - 11:30am. The Telecenter is located on the campus of Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland. Director James has invited several Members of Congress and GSA Administrator Stephen R. Perry to join her for this visit. She would be very pleased if the members of the Human Resources Management Council could also participate in this important event and learn more about the operation of a high-quality telecenter. Everyone is expected to be in the Bowie Telecenter auditorium by 9:55am. The visit will last for 1½ hours.
The visit to the Bowie Telecenter will feature a tour of the facility, including the workstations, along with a briefing conducted by the Telecenter Director that will highlight the many advantages of teleworking from telecenters. A copy of the agenda is attached for your information as well as directions to the Bowie Telecenter location. The press also will be invited to observe and to report on the morning's events.
Please contact Ms. Jennifer Hirschmann at jxhirsch@opm.gov by January 22 to confirm your attendance. You may also reach Jennifer at 202/606-3711 if you have any additional questions. I look forward to seeing you on January 25, 2002.
