Ninth Annual Executive Leadership Development and Diversity Training and Recruiting Conference

The National Association of Federal Hispanic Executives (NAHFE), a national nonprofit organization of Hispanic professional executives, is sponsoring its Ninth Annual Executive Leadership Development and Diversity Training and Recruiting Conference on November 15-17, 2000, at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn Westpark Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The theme for the conference is "Accepting the Challenge: Building Coalitions in the New Millennium."

NAHFE has structured an informative agenda for the conference. Topics such as Career Planning and the Executive Core Qualifications; Hispanic Employment Initiatives; Career Preparation and Strategies for Advancement; and Leading in Time of Change are just a few of the subjects that will be covered at the conference. The objective of the NAHFE Training Conference is provide cutting edge career development training for Federal employees.

We encourage your participation at this conference. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management supports NAHFE's efforts and sees the conference as viable training and career development activities.

BACKGROUND

The National Association of Hispanic Federal Executives (NAHFE) is a private non-profit and non-partisan professional corporation established in 1980. The objectives of NAHFE are: to promote the Federal Government as a model employer; to recruit highly qualified candidates for Federal senior executive policy positions; and to provide cutting edge career development training for Federal employees.

Membership in NAHFE is open to all Federal employees at the GS/13 and above grade levels, including military personnel with the rank of major and above, as well as retired personnel who met the membership criteria at the time of their retirement.

PARTNERSHIPS

At present NAHFE has partnerships with the Department of Treasury, Energy, Labor, Veterans Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Commerce and the Navy Sea Systems Command.

NAHFE ACTIVITIES

  • Executive Leadership Development has been provided in eight annual leadership conferences as well as on select topics within its various chapters.
  • Annual Hispanic Federal Executives Summits I, II, III and IV for Hispanic Senior Service Executives (SES) and high potential GS-15.

NAHFE=S 1999 SPECIAL AWARD

Director Lachance was the keynote speaker at NAHFE=s 1999 Agency Excellence Achievement Award Luncheon, held on October 27, 1999, at the Holiday Inn Capitol in Washington, DC. At the luncheon, NAHFE President Manuel Oliverez presented Director Lachance with a special award for her outstanding leadership in working to improve career opportunities for Hispanics.
