Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

You and your representatives are cordially invited to join the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in observance of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month.  This year’s theme is “Leadership, Diversity, Empowerment and Beyond.”  OPM will host a 60-minute workshop on “Strategies for Enhancing Opportunities for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the Federal Workforce” on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 11:30 a.m.  The workshop will be held at OPM Headquarters, located at the Theodore Roosevelt Building, 1900 E Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20415, in the Alan Campbell Auditorium. 

Guest speakers include:  Kiran Ahuja, Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, who will provide detailed information on the President’s Executive Order on increasing participation of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Federal Programs in which they may be underserved as well as tips and strategies on enhancing opportunities for participation of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the Federal Workforce; Veronica Villalobos, Director, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, OPM, will discuss OPM’s strategies and commitment in support of the Executive Order for the White House Initiative on Asian American and Pacific Islanders; and Kin Wong, President, Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) will discuss the benefits of having a FAPAC chapter in Federal agencies.
