In April 2013, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will host two cost-free one-day leadership seminars, in Washington, DC, on the topic of Meta-Leadership.  Meta-Leadership is a framework and practice method developed by faculty at the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative (NPLI), a joint venture of the Harvard School of Public Health’s Division of Policy Translation and Leadership Development and the Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership.  The objective of the seminars is to support continual leadership development in the Federal Government, preparing executive-level officials to meet complex challenges of the modern era through exceptional leadership across various sectors and organizations. The seminars will be taught by Dr. Leonard Marcus, Co-Director of the NPLI.

The first seminar will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013, and is specifically offered to Federal executive-level National Security Professionals.  The theme of this first seminar is Leadership in Times of Crises, with a focus on strategic leadership during emergency situations, requiring the coordination of activities by multiple agencies, organizations, and stakeholders to prepare and unify response efforts.  This seminar will take place at the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), One Constitution Square, 1275 First Street Northeast, Washington, DC.  Space is limited, and the seminar is open to 150 Federal officials who register for this course by e-mail at Meta-Leadership@opm.gov; when registering, interested participants should indicate their position, agency, and the date and name of the specific seminar they wish to attend.

The second seminar will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013, and is open to all current Senior Executive Service (SES) members.  The theme of this second seminar is Achievement of Administration Priorities through Enterprise Leadership, with a focus on strategic leadership and connectivity across the public, private, state/local, and non-Governmental organization sectors to execute the President’s agenda.  This seminar will also take place at GSA, One Constitution Square, 1275 First Street Northeast, Washington, DC.  The seminar is also open to 150 Federal officials who register for this course by e-mail at Meta-Leadership@opm.gov;when registering, interested participants should indicate their position, agency, and the date and name of the specific seminar they wish to attend.
