June 14, 2013: Feds Feed Families 2013
  Feds Feed Families 2013 is under way! The summer food drive Kicked-off on June 11th at the Capital Area Food Drive. We are fired up for Feds Feed Families 2013! The campaign officially began on June 1st and will run through August 28th, 2013. Don't forget to bring in non-perishable food items to support your community throughout the summer!

May 15, 2013: Public Service Town Hall
  During Public Service Recognition Week, the Partnership for Public Service, Public Employees Roundtable, and federal agency leaders, held a town hall discussion about the vital public services agencies deliver, how they communicate that value to the American people, and ways to engage and motivate employees during times of tough budget cuts and pay freezes. April 30, 2013: Take a Future Fed to Work
  Introduce the next generation to Public Service on Take a Future Fed to Work Day. Federal employees are Astronauts, Museum Curators, Park Rangers, and so much more. On May 8th, show the next generation what it's like to be a public servant.
April 24, 2013: 2013 Why I Serve Videos
  The theme for this year’s Public Service Recognition Week is “Why I Serve,” to highlight the passion for service and hard work that government employees embody. In an effort to increase awareness of the importance of government service, the Public Employees Roundtable is asking federal employees and others in the federal community to share what public service means to them, why they chose careers in public service, and what message they would like to share about public service.
April 19, 2013: Flash Mentoring “HR Professionals: Leaders in Employee Engagement”
  The CHCO Council is excited to announce the next Flash Mentoring event. Please join us on May 9th at USDA for an afternoon of conversation and mentoring with Federal HR professionals. The theme for this event is “HR Professionals: Leaders in Employee Engagement.” Mentees will have an opportunity to discuss topics related to employee engagement and leadership development with experts in the HR field and your HR colleagues across the government. This event is geared toward GS 5- 9.
April 12, 2013: The CHCO Council Bids Farewell to Chair, John Berry
  The CHCO Council bids a fond farewell to Chair, John Berry, who hosted his last CHCO meeting on April 2nd. Council members thanked Berry for his leadership over the past four years, which has led to such accomplishments as hiring reform, Veteran’s Hiring, the creation of HRU, closing skill gaps, and improvement in retirement processing. His leadership will be missed.
April 11, 2013: Wall of Honor
  On April 11th, Director Berry unveiled the Wall of Honor in memory of Federal civilian employees who gave their lives for our country. In an effort to honor the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service, in 2013 OPM began a new tradition that honors civil servants who die in the line of duty through a Wall of Honor. This is the first time that there will be a memorial to honor fallen civilian employees from across the Executive Branch.
March 22, 2013: Webinar: Guidance for Agency-Specific Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Policies
  Join OPM on March 27th for a webinar to discuss the roles and responsibilities of Federal agencies in responding to domestic and sexual violence in the workplace, provide an overview of OPM’s guidance to Federal agencies, and give an overview of the network of domestic violence and sexual assault services. This is the first of three webinars on OPM’s Guide for Agency-Specific Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Policies.
March 04, 2013: CHCO Academy 2013 Presents: Strategic Leadership Succession Planning
  This Academy will provide an introduction to succession planning policies and regulations, a review of the Succession Planning Model, and key points of the Succession Planning Guide. By the end of the day, participants will have a richer understanding of succession planning, its importance, and ideas for implementation and measurement. The two opportunities to attend:Thursday, March 21st (8:30am-4pm) OR Friday, March 22nd (8:30am-4pm).
February 26, 2013: NASA APPEL ELK Presents Developing Talent in the Federal Workforce
  On February 28, CHCO Exec. Director Kathryn Medina and NASA CHCO Jeri Buchholz will speak on the “Developing Talent in the Federal Workforce” panel as part of the NASA APPEL Engaging Leaders in Knowledge (ELK) series. The forum will address topics such as how knowledge management and talent development impact organizational success; affordable applications of knowledge management and talent development; and effective talent development practices at NASA and other federal agencies.
February 11, 2013: Pathways Roundtable Discussion
  OPM and the CHCO Council are hosting a Pathways Roundtable Discussion Thursday, February 14th, 10am-12noon. The discussion will feature agency experts who will share their best practices for hiring through Pathways. The session will be moderated by Kim Holden, Deputy Associate Director for Recruitment and Hiring. Suggested attendees include Hiring Managers, HR Specialists, Deputy CHCOs, and Pathways Coordinators. The session will be at OPM and available via webcast.
January 29, 2013: Flash Mentoring: “Enhancing Customer Service Skills”
  The CHCO Council and the Department of Labor are ringing in 2013 with our 6th Flash Mentoring Event! Join us on February 7th for an afternoon of mentoring that will pair HR leaders with HR staff at the GS-9 through GS-13 level to discuss a challenge faced by the HR community.
January 23, 2013: Social Learning Pilot Course
  OPM is partnering with GovLoop to launch the first Social Learning Pilot Course. HRU is incorporating social learning techniques and tools to analyze the impact on the transfer of learning to performance as well as the efficiencies in training in a time of fiscal austerity. The pilot uses HRU’s "Performance Management for HR Specialists" course and will run for six weeks starting Tuesday, February 26th 2013 and ending on Friday, April 5th 2013. Register today!
