Donald Sanders serves as the Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer for the US Small Business Administration. In this capacity, Mr. Sanders is responsible for the strategic and daily operational functions of the Office of Human Resources Solutions for SBA.
In his previous position Mr. Sanders served as the Director, Strategic Human Resources Planning & Accountability Division for the US Department of Agriculture. In this capacity, Mr. Sanders provided oversight of the development of department-wide human capital planning and established USDA’s Human Capital Accountability Program. Additionally, Mr. Sanders served as the Acting Deputy CHCO for USDA during the transition of the Office of Human Capital Management to the Office of Human Resources Management from June 2009 to May 2010.
Mr. Sanders has an additional six years of service with the Department of Agriculture Mission Areas including service with the Farm Service Agency where he served as the Human Resources Officer in Kansas City, MO and with the Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service where he served as the Deputy Director, Talent Development & Management.
Mr. Sanders has 15 years of private-sector HR experience where he served as the Director of Recruiting for Glaxo Wellcome and the Eckerd Corporation. He also served as a Training Manager for the Principal Financial Group and Metlife.
Mr. Sanders is very proud of his military service with the US Army where he served as a Recruiting Station Commander with the US Army’s Recruiting Command. In this capacity, Mr. Sanders earned the Gold Army Recruiter Badge and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Mr. Sanders is a graduate of the University of South Florida where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Communication. Don is married to his lovely wife Tracey and has two sons; David who is currently serving in the US Navy and young Jonathan who lives with Tracey and him in Triangle, Virginia.
